Heavy Equipment Operator/Foreman opportunity!

Irish Creek is looking for a Heavy Excavation Equipment Operator who is efficient, safety-minded for industrial, commercial and residential excavation projects. Applicants should have residential and commercial excavation and/or general construction industry experience and be able to run and manage a crew of laborers and other operators on excavation projects of varying size. The ideal candidates will have the ability to read and understand civil and architectural drawings, work well with a team of other operators and laborers, communicate clear directions and project details to other site team members and project management, be capable of working with minimal oversight and also be able to follow directions closely. Additionally, he or she should be familiar with construction, excavation and pipeline safety standards and procedures to ensure project security. Additional experience in carpentry, concrete, masonry or other trades is preferred. This position offers growth into managing General Construction Projects in addition to excavation only projects.

Heavy Equipment Operator Duties:

  • Operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, skid loaders and excavators for bulk earth moving, trench and building excavation and grading.
  • Managing small crews of laborers, other operators, and subcontractors on excavation and/or general construction projects.
  • Clear communication and documentation with Project Management regarding project status.
  • Inspecting, cleaning, lubricating and refilling equipment.
  • Laboring when needed.
  • Picking up materials as needed with a pickup and bumper-pull trailer.

Heavy Equipment Operators Skills:

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to accurately read Civil Drawings and calculate grades.
  • Ability to read Architectural Drawings.
  • Proficient in Excavating Equipment operation.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Committed to quality, safety and communication.
  • Team-oriented and self-motivated.
  • Pre-employment screening required.
